About AthElite

The AthElite was established in May 1982. Joyce and Bill Meyer had a vision for Norfolk to have a specialty sports store, where you would get fitted properly for your sport. They started out as a franchise store called the "The Athlete's Foot". In 1987, they relocated from their first location in downtown Norfolk, and moved to their current location in the Sunset Plaza. At that time, their son Dave was hired as Store Manager. The AthElite specializes in old fashion customer service, a knowledgeable sales staff, and a personal touch that only the AthElite customers will receive with each visit to our store!

In 1995, we changed our name from the "Athlete's Foot" to "AthElite". We felt at this time that we had established ourselves in the business and wanted to continue supporting our local schools as well as the other schools outside of Norfolk. Entering our 25th year of business, it's just as important today as it was in 1982 to provide our community with the best products we can offer and do our best to make you a happy customer. When you leave the AthElite, we want you to feel that you received the best service you've ever had! We offer you a challenge: come see in person how old fashion customer service is still the only way to buy your next pair of shoes and sports apparel!
